The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Honduras and South Korea would enter into force in September.
The ministers of Economy of Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama and their counterpart from the host country, participated in the subscription of the FTA, in the city of Seoul, in South Korea.
The minister of the Secretary of Economic Development (SED) participated in the signing ceremony of the Free Trade Agreement. He was accompanied by the Ambassador of Honduras in Korea, Virgilio Paredes Trapero, the delegate of the Administration and Negotiation of Treaties, Cesar Diaz and the Legal Advisor, Jorge Pinel.
Arnaldo Castillo (SED), indicated that one of the positive factors, is the access to that market without the payment of tariffs.
We could also expand the national market and will represent a great opportunity for national producers, especially in sectors such as:
- The melon industry
- Shrimp
- Sea cucumber and lobster
- Vegetables
- Sugar
- Textile and automobile harness
- Steel
- Rice
- Corn
- Palm oil
- Cigarettes
It is very important to point, that this treaty measures the productive capacity, not only of our country, but of the region, because we can generate value chains between Central American countries and promote other products with high demand, such as coffee, agriculture goods, among others .
This Treaty provides greater legal certainty for Korean companies that come to invest, this would generate confidence and therefore hope for more jobs.
