After the meeting that took place on February 2nd of the year 2020. The decision made by the directors came to the conclusion that the process of the reforms related to the law titled “Ley de Zona Libre” of the Asociación Hondureña de Maquiladores will begin promptly.
With the modification of this law, it’s intended to maintain and create favorable conditions that will seek new investments both at a national and international level. They will simplify the process that will prolong the benefits of our country and place us in a new commercial position between El Salvador and Nicaragua.
The reforms will take direction toward two factors: (1) The consolidation of the activity related to machinery and (2) The review of the initiative to increase the time of the fiscal exemptions.
It is important to take into account that the “Ley de Zona Libre” has been established since 1976. It has not been modified since, and it was necessary to make some updates. Such as expiration dates, modernization, and as the most important point it no longer has to go through four institutions to qualify for the benefits of the “Zona de Libre”, which is equivalent to almost one year of management.
The new reform will be made by the Secretary of Economic Development, which will demonstrate all of the alignments in a simple manner without over riding the order. The requests will also be made electronically which will allow all institutions to be informed once submitted.
In this manner, we also recognized the commitment of the factories in creating jobs and generating of riches for the country. In this reform there will be more jobs created, approximately 15,000 jobs and 410 millions of dollars according to the AHM.
